Under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Federal Government of Nigeria has given its official nod to three notable airlines for the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage: Air Peace Ltd., FlyNas, and Max Air. Additionally, three air cargo firms, namely Cargo Zeal Technologies Ltd, Nahco Aviance, and Qualla Investment Limited, have received approval to handle the excess luggage of pilgrims.
This decision underscores the government’s unwavering dedication to ensuring a smooth and secure pilgrimage for Nigerian pilgrims. To this end, specific allocations of pilgrims from different states have been designated to the approved airlines:
- Air Peace will cater to pilgrims from Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Ekiti, Enugu, FCT, Imo, Kwara, Ondo, and Rivers.
- FlyNas is tasked with transporting pilgrims from Borno, Lagos, Osun, Ogun, Niger, Sokoto, Kebbi, Yobe, and Zamfara.
- Max Air, having received the largest allocation, will manage pilgrims from Bauchi, Benue, Kano, Katsina, Kogi, Nasarawa, Adamawa, Oyo, Taraba, Kaduna, Armed Forces, Gombe, Jigawa, and Plateau.
These allocations are in accordance with the existing Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia concerning the airlift of government quota pilgrims. However, states have the prerogative to select any approved cargo companies for transporting excess luggage, provided they communicate this decision to the Commission.
