Hajj 2023: Nigeria to Begin Airlift of Pilgrims 21st May- NAHCON

The airlift of Nigerian pilgrims would start on May 21, according to Alhaji Zikirullah Kunle Hassan, chairman and CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON). On March 1st, 2023, he made this announcement during the inauguration of two committees that will handle aviation-related issues for the upcoming 2023 Hajj operations. The aviation monitoring committee and the airline screening committee are the two committees.

Alhaji Magaji Hardawa, the commissioner of operations, and Engr. Mohammed Goni, the commission’s head of aviation, will preside over the two committees, respectively. The commission chairman initially inaugurated the committee that day at the Hajj House in Abuja.

In a brief statement at the inaugurations, the chairman emphasized that it is the commission’s job to select airlines for pilgrims leaving the States as well as for tour operators choosing to use charter services.

The inaugural flight will take place on May 21, 2023, Insha Allah, and the screening committee has been tasked with working around the clock to produce a report ready for the president to receive by March 7, 2023.

Also, he urged all Nigerians who intended to participate in this year’s Hajj to complete all payments by March 7, 2023, at the latest, as registration will shortly be closed.
