Yeti Airlines’ ATR72-500 crashed near Pokhara and claimed about 70 lives, according to a report. CNN reported that “The plane’s final communication with Pokhara airport was about 10:50 a.m. local time, only 18 minutes after takeoff. It then crashed close to the Seti River Gorge. The plane was flying from Kathmandu to Pokhara, the country’s second-most populous city and a gateway to the Himalayas.” sources on the ground reported that the pilot upon realizing the craft would crash, diverted the plane from the residential area. This demonstrates the flight crew’s professionalism, even when they are not certain of their survival.
